You Helped Irum Waris Fight Breast Cancer

Irum Waris's Story

Irum Waris, a 45-year-old woman from Islamabad, suffered from a lump in her left breast. Over time, the lump grew and caused increasing discomfort. Worried about her well-being, she consulted a doctor at a local hospital. After performing a series of tests, the doctor diagnosed her with left-sided Breast Carcinoma (Breast Cancer). To manage the disease, Irum had already undergone several chemotherapy sessions, and now her doctor recommended surgical treatment. The doctor advised left-sided Breast Conservative Surgery (BCS) with Axillary Clearance to remove the cancerous lump. This procedure was critical to stop the progression of cancer. However, the cost of surgery was far beyond what Irum and her family could afford.

Irum lives in a modest home with her elderly parents. She is divorced, unemployed, and fully dependent on her father’s pension of just PKR 30,000 per month. With limited resources, the family could not manage the expensive treatment on their own. During this difficult time, Irum reached out to Transparent Hands. After listening to her concerns, we promptly registered her case.

On September 16, 2025, Irum was admitted to Maryam Memorial Hospital in Rawalpindi. Dr. Afsheen Zafar successfully performed her left-sided Breast Conservative Surgery with Axillary Clearance. The medical team carefully monitored her post-operative condition and provided essential medical care. Irum was discharged in stable condition from the hospital on September 18, 2025.
