You Improved Hamidan’s Quality of Life with Cholecystectomy

Hamidan Bibi, a 66-year-old widow from Lahore, had been suffering from upper right abdominal pain for a long time. Her discomfort was often accompanied by nausea, bloating, indigestion after eating fatty meals, and occasional fever. These symptoms made it increasingly difficult for her to eat properly, rest comfortably, or manage daily activities. Concerned about her worsening condition, Hamidan visited a doctor at a nearby hospital. After conducting essential laboratory tests and an ultrasound scan, the doctor diagnosed her with Symptomatic Gallstones, a condition in which stones form in the gallbladder and cause inflammation and digestive problems. To treat her condition and prevent further risks, her doctor advised an open cholecystectomy.

Unfortunately, the cost of surgery was far beyond the family’s limited means. Hamidan Bibi lives in a small rented home with her daughter and son-in-law. Her son-in-law is the sole breadwinner of the household and works as a laborer, earning PKR 35,000 per month.
