You Made it Possible for Asmat to Undergo Cholecystectomy

Asmat Bibi's Story

Asmat Bibi, a 45-year-old woman from Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was suffering from pain in her upper right abdomen. Alongside the pain, she frequently experienced nausea, vomiting, and intolerance to fatty meals. These symptoms made it extremely difficult for her to manage household responsibilities and care for her child. Concerned about her condition, Asmat visited a local hospital for a medical evaluation. After performing an ultrasound scan and necessary laboratory tests, the doctor diagnosed her with symptomatic gallstones, a condition caused by the formation of hard mineral deposits in the gallbladder. To relieve her suffering and prevent further complications, the doctor recommended a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Unfortunately, the cost of surgery was far beyond what Asmat and her family could afford. She lives in a modest mud house with her husband and one child. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 15,000 per month. This income barely covers basic household expenses, including food and utilities. The financial strain left the family unable to manage the cost of this essential surgery. During this difficult time, Asmat and her family reached out to Transparent Hands. On September 14, 2025, Asmat was admitted to the Gulrang International Hospital in Malakand. Dr. Farooq Khan successfully performed the laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The surgery went smoothly. She was discharged in stable condition on September 18, 2025.
