You Played a Key Role in Zaid’s Recovery From Heart Disease

Zaid Khan's Story

Zaid Khan, a 20-year-old man from Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was struggling with breathlessness and chest pain. Along with these symptoms, he frequently suffered from severe headaches and high blood pressure. His health condition made it difficult for him to focus on his studies and carry out routine daily activities. Concerned about his worsening condition, Zaid visited a nearby hospital for medical consultation. After a detailed clinical examination and diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with severe Coarctation of the Aorta, Hypoplastic Aortic Arch, and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy. To correct these life-threatening issues and prevent further complications, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery (arch repair).

Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was far beyond Zaid’s family’s financial capacity. He lives in a rented house with his parents and one sibling. His father works as a woodcutter and earns only PKR 35,000 per month, which barely meets household expenses. Arranging money for a major heart surgery seemed impossible. During this challenging time, Zaid’s family reached out to Transparent Hands for support. After careful evaluation of his medical reports and financial situation, we registered his case.

On November 26, 2025, Zaid was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan, a senior cardiac surgeon, successfully performed open heart surgery on the following day. The procedure was completed smoothly, and Zaid was kept under close post-operative observation in the ICU. He was discharged in stable condition on December 2, 2025.

Zaid shared his emotions as follows:
“I felt helpless knowing my heart condition could end my life at any time. This surgery gave me a second chance to live and gave me new hope and strength. I will always remain grateful to everyone who made this possible.”
