You Relieved Najma’s Pain by Supporting Her Mastectomy

Najma Shahid's Story

Najma Shahid, a 48-year-old woman from Hyderabad, Sindh, had been struggling with a painful lump in her right breast for the past year. Initially, she tried to manage the discomfort at home. Over time, the lump gradually increased in size, making it difficult for her to carry out daily activities. Concerned about her health, Najma finally visited a doctor at a nearby hospital. After a thorough clinical examination, imaging, and biopsy, Najma was diagnosed with right-sided breast cancer. To effectively treat her condition and prevent the spread of the disease, her doctor recommended a right-sided Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM). This surgery was crucial for her recovery and long-term health.

Unfortunately, Najma’s family could not afford the cost of the surgery. She lives in a small one-room rented home with her husband and a daughter. Her husband is the sole breadwinner, and has a private job with a modest monthly income of PKR 30,000. This limited income barely covers their house rent, food, and household expenses, leaving no room for essential medical care. In this difficult situation, Najma approached Transparent Hands for support. After reviewing her condition, we registered her case.

On October 23, 2025, Najma was admitted to the Bait ul Sukoon Cancer Hospital in Karachi. Dr. Mehwish Mughal successfully performed the Modified Radical Mastectomy. The procedure was completed without complications, and Najma was carefully monitored in the post-operative ward. She was discharged in stable condition after her surgery.

Najma shared her feelings as follows:
“Pain and fear had consumed me, and I was worried about leaving my family behind. After the surgery, I feel stronger and hopeful. I can focus on my health. I am forever grateful to you for making this possible.”

Today, Najma is recovering well at home. She is gradually regaining her strength and is able to resume her routine with confidence. Her quality of life has improved significantly. Her family is deeply thankful to you for contributing to her treatment, giving her a chance to lead a healthy life.
