You Saved Shahwaiz’s Life with Cardiac Surgery

Muhammad Shahwaiz Masood's Story

Muhammad Shahwaiz Masood, a 3-year-old boy from Faisalabad, had been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Even mild to moderate physical activity left him fatigued, and he was not gaining proper weight. Concerned for their son’s health, his parents took him to a local hospital for a detailed evaluation. After conducting thorough tests, the doctor diagnosed Shahwaiz with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Right Coronary Cusp (RCC) Prolapse, and Trace Aortic Regurgitation (AR). His doctor recommended open-heart surgery for VSD closure to restore proper heart function and prevent potentially life-threatening complications.
Shahwaiz’s family faced significant financial challenges. He lives in a rented home with his parents and a sister. His father works as a factory laborer, earning PKR 65,000 per month. With this limited income, they barely covered their utility bills, house rent, and educational expenses. Due to their financial constraints, they couldn’t afford Shahwaiz’s life-changing cardiac surgery. During this time of need, his family reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. Upon listening to their concerns, we registered his case.

On August 27, 2025, Shahwaiz was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. On August 28, 2025, Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed the VSD closure surgery. The procedure went smoothly, and Shahwaiz received attentive post-operative care. He was discharged in satisfactory condition on September 1, 2025.

Shahwaiz’s parents expressed their gratitude as follows:
