You Supported Zulhija’s Knee Replacement Surgery
Zulhija Bibi's Story
Zulhija, a 49-year-old woman from Mardan, was suffering from intense right knee pain. She was unable to walk without support. She consulted a doctor, who after conducting some diagnostic tests and an ultrasound scan diagnosed her with Osteoarthritis of the right knee. The doctor advised Total Knee Replacement Surgery for her right knee to relieve the pain and enable her to walk again. The overwhelming cost of the surgery was beyond the financial capacity of Zulhija’s family as they hardly made ends meet.
Zulhija was an active and vibrant member of her family, but her condition made her dependent on others to carry out even minor tasks. Zulhija has no children. Her husband is ill due to blood cancer and can’t provide for his family. Zulhija’s brother-in-law and relatives support her in meeting their basic needs. With such financial hardships, affording the costly surgical procedure was impossible for them.
With hopes in their hearts, Zulhija’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Knowing her situation, we registered her case.
The day of surgery arrived, and Zulhija was admitted to Zia Darman Hospital, Mardan. On 26-02-2024, her total knee replacement surgery was performed by Dr. Aiman Zia. Zulhija was hospitalized for three days and discharged with new hope and resilience.
Zulhija described her happiness as follows:
“My painful knee was giving me extreme discomfort. I am happy that now I can walk again without assistance. I am deeply grateful for your support, it has changed my life.”
Transparent Hands fulfilled its commitment to help Zulhija with the support of donors. Zulhija can now independently perform her daily chores, cook meals, and maintain her home.
The successful knee replacement surgery has enabled her to face life’s challenges with courage and enthusiasm. We express our gratitude to all donors who contributed for her surgery and made her independent once again.
