Rabia Bibi's Story

Rabia Bibi, an 18-year-old girl from Rahim Yar Khan, had been struggling with increasing pain in both her hip joints for several months. What started as mild discomfort gradually progressed into pain that affected her ability to walk, sit, or stand for long periods. Daily activities such as climbing stairs, getting out of bed, or moving around at home became increasingly difficult for her. Over time, her right hip became more affected, making her dependent on others. Concerned about her worsening condition, Rabia’s parents took her to a local hospital where she was evaluated by a doctor in the orthopedic department. After a detailed physical examination, X-rays, and necessary medical investigations, she was diagnosed with bilateral Juvenile Hip Osteoarthritis. This early-onset degenerative condition had already caused significant damage to her hip joints, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. To improve her quality of life and restore mobility, the doctor recommended a right-sided Total Hip Replacement (THR). However, the cost of the surgery was far beyond the family’s financial capacity.

Rabia lives in a small rented house with her parents and three school-going siblings. Her father is a laborer and earns approximately PKR 30,000 per month, which is only enough to manage basic household expenses such as rent, food, and utilities. In such circumstances, arranging money for her treatment was not possible. During this difficult time, Rabia’s family reached out for support, and her case was registered with Transparent Hands after proper evaluation.

On March 6, 2026, Rabia was admitted to the PSRD Orthopedic Hospital, Lahore. On March 7, 2026, her surgery was performed by Dr. Saleem Bashir, who successfully carried out the right-sided Total Hip Replacement. The procedure was completed without any complications. She was discharged in stable condition on March 9, 2026.

Rabia shared her feelings by saying:

“Before surgery, I lived with pain that made even routine movements difficult for me. I felt helpless because I could not do things like other girls of my age. After the surgery, I feel much better and hopeful about my future. I am truly grateful to you for giving me this opportunity to walk again.”

Today, Rabia Bibi is recovering well and slowly regaining strength in her right hip. She is beginning to walk and looks forward to returning to a more active and independent life.

Her family is relieved to see her progress and extends heartfelt gratitude to you for your generous support that made this life-changing surgery possible.
