Zubaida Begum's Story

Meet Zubaida Begum, a 49-year-old resident of Lahore, who has been suffering from pain and discomfort due to a lump in her umbilical area. Her condition has significantly impacted her daily life. Simple tasks like walking, cooking, and maintaining her home have become significantly challenging for her. She longs for the days when she will be able to manage all the tasks without any discomfort. Zubaida went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed some lab tests and an ultrasound scan and diagnosed her with Supraumblical and Right Spigelian hernia – a bulging of tissue in both central and right lumbar areas of the abdomen. To treat this condition, the doctor advised mesh hernioplasty, abdominal lipectomy, and spigelian hernia repair. Unfortunately, the surgical cost is out of her family’s financial reach.

Zubaida’s condition is draining her emotionally and physically. If it is left untreated, her illness may lead to incarceration and strangulation, where the blood supply to the affected tissues is cut off. It may cause severe pain, infection, and potentially life-threatening damage to her intestines, requiring emergency surgery.

Zubaida lives in a modest house with her husband and three children. Her husband and sons are daily wage laborers and make just PKR 50,000 per month. The family is surviving in poverty and they barely manage to cover their household expenses. The cost of the surgery is overwhelming and weighs heavily on them. Zubaida is extremely concerned regarding the potential outcomes if she doesn’t get the surgery. Her financial constraints make it impossible for her to undergo the surgery. During this time of need, Zubaida reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Zubaida said with teary eyes:

“I never thought I’d be in this position. I just want to feel normal again. This pain is unbearable and  I dream of a life where pain no longer holds me back. I request you to please support me in undergoing this surgery.”

The thought of being pain-free and active again fills her heart with optimism. Your support can make a world of difference. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, counts in bringing her back to health and happiness. Let’s help Zubaida reclaim her life and joy.

Zubaida Begum's Story

Zubaida Begum, a 49-year-old woman from Lahore, experienced pain and discomfort caused by a lump in her umbilical area. Her condition made even the simplest daily tasks like cooking and walking challenging. As time passed, her health deteriorated, and she became increasingly dependent on her family. Concerned for her well-being, Zubaida visited a local hospital, where the doctor conducted lab tests and an ultrasound scan. She was diagnosed with a supraumbilical and right Spigelian hernia and recommended mesh hernioplasty, abdominal lipectomy, and Spigelian hernia repair to address the condition. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s financial capacity.

She lived in a modest house with her husband and three children. Her husband and sons work as daily wage laborers, earning a combined monthly income of just PKR 50,000. This meager amount barely covered their household expenses, leaving no room for additional medical costs. During her time of need, Zubaida reached out to Transparent Hands. Moved by her plight, we registered her case and arranged for her treatment.

On December 13, 2024, Zubaida underwent the required surgery at Lahore Care Hospital. Her surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Ahmed Fawad, ensuring her health and well-being. She received post-operative care and was discharged in stable condition on December 16, 2024.

Expressing her heartfelt gratitude, Zubaida said:

“My life was full of pain, and I felt helpless. Today, I feel like I’ve been given a second chance. I feel relief from the pain that has burdened me for so long and can finally live a life without discomfort. Thank you for helping me. I am deeply grateful.”

After the successful surgery, Zubaida looks forward to resuming her daily activities and taking care of her family without difficulty. Her family is overjoyed to see her reclaim her health and independence, and they are thankful to you for making this life-changing surgery possible.
