For the last two months, Muhammad Dolal has been suffering from ureteric stones in his right kidney. Ureteral stones are kidney stones that have become stuck in the ureter (the tube that carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder). If the stone is large enough, it can block the flow of urine from the kidney to the bladder. 

To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Muhammad Dolal to undergo a URS with DJ Stenting. URS surgery is a minimally invasive surgical intervention to remove ureteric stones by a small telescope. In this procedure, the scope is passed from the urethra into the ureter. With the help of a laser fiber instrument called a lithoclast probe, kidney stones are fragmented.

Unfortunately, Muhammad Dolal cannot afford the hefty cost of the surgery. Due to his withering age, he has been unable to work. His son is the sole earner of the family. He works as a laborer on daily wages and hardly manages to earn PKR 15000 per month. His son told us:

“My father mostly suffers in silence. He does not like to share his pain or bare his wounds to the world. But lately, his wailing cries can be heard from a distance. It breaks my heart. Please help us provide relief to my father. May God bless you.”
