For the last three years, Fauzia Bibi has been suffering from severe abdominal pain and stretch. At first, she thought of it as a mild intestinal upset and resorted to home remedies for a cure. Later, when the pain became unbearable, she consulted a doctor. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Fauzia Bibi with a Paraumbilical Hernia. A Paraumbilical Hernia is a hole in the connective tissue of the abdominal wall. It often causes the protrusion of the abdominal contents. Consequently, the only way to get rid of a paraumbilical hernia is by surgery.

Therefore, the doctor has advised Fauzia Bibi to undergo a Hernioplasty. Hernioplasty is the only option to relieve her pain. 

Unfortunately, Fauzia Bibi cannot afford the hefty cost of the surgery. Fauzia Bibi’s husband is the sole breadwinner of the household. Her husband works at a car wash and hardly earns PKR 500 per day. In this measly income, he cannot afford to arrange for his wife’s surgery. In a conversation with us, he said:

“My wife is in so much pain. At times, the pain becomes so unbearable that she spends days in bed. The pain not only affects her but our entire family. The times are tough but Transparent Hands is our only hope.”
