Kainat Khalid's Story

Before you dive into the gory details of Kainat’s ailments, please know that you can help her. Your donation, however small it may be, will relieve Kainat of her excruciating pain. Therefore, we request that you please donate for Kainat’s Tympanoplasty as much as you can.

For the last seven years, Kainat has been suffering from discharge in her ear. After consultation and thorough testing, the doctor told her family that Kainat suffers from a condition called Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM). This condition is characterized by a discharge from the middle ear through a tympanic perforation. This condition is one of the most leading reasons for hearing loss in the underdeveloped countries of the world.

The surgeon performs a tympanoplasty when the eardrum has a hole that does not close on its own. It is done to improve hearing and prevent water from getting into the middle ear. Moreover, Kainat has to undergo an Ossiculoplasty as well. Ossiculoplasty is the reconstruction of the middle ear ossicular chain. It reconstructs the middle ear. Unfortunately, Kainat Khalid’s parents cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Kainat’s father told us:

“I often blame myself for not paying attention to my daughter’s constant complaints about her condition. How could I? In a household where putting the food on the table is the biggest worry, who has time to pay heed to minor ailments? But, now, the discharge has become painful for her.”

After a lot of distress, Kainat’s parents have registered her case with Transparent Hands. We wish to arrange her surgery as soon as possible. But, that won’t be possible without your help. Therefore, we request that you please donate for Kainat’s Tympanoplasty and Ossiculoplasty as much as you can. Donate now, and donate as much as you can.

Kainat Khalid's Story

Fifteen years old Kainat Khalid, a resident of Karachi has been suffering from pain and ear discharge for the last seven years. Upon consultation and going through multiple diagnostic tests, she was diagnosed with Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM). Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) is defined as a perforated tympanic membrane with persistent drainage from the middle ear for more than 2-6 weeks. After the diagnosis was done, to treat this she was advised to get a Tympanoplasty done. Tympanoplasty is a surgery to repair the eardrum. The eardrum is a thin layer of tissue that vibrates in response to sound. Therefore, she was admitted to Patel hospital. Her surgery was performed by Dr. Nabeel Humayun on 17-09-2021. She was discharged after two days of hospital stay in a stable condition. Kainat has now been cured.
