Eight months ago, while playing cricket with his friends, he suffered a fall and sustained severe trauma to his left knee. The doctor at his local vicinity gave him painkillers and splints for symptomatic relief. However, later, when the pain persisted, he consulted another doctor. After an MRI and further evaluation, Meer was found to have an ACL tear. An ACL injury is a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament which is one of the major ligaments that support your knee.

To treat this knee injury, the doctor has advised an Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction in which the torn ligament is repaired to stabilize the knee and give it full range of movement again. While this surgery promises a pain-free future to Meer Afzal, it is in no way an affordable procedure. Unfortunately, Meer Afzal cannot afford the hefty cost of an ACL repair surgery. Meer Afzal’s brother is the sole earner of the family. He works on daily wages and hardly manages to earn PKR 15000 per month. With this meager income, he has to raise a family of eight. Therefore, he finds himself in no position to arrange for his brother’s surgery. Meer Afzal told us:

“Little did I know that a small game of cricket will change my life forever. Now, it has been months, and I am still unable to walk or stand up without wincing in pain.”
