Raheem Saleem's Story

Raheem Saleem, 26 years old, had a painful lump in his groin area on the left side. This lump appeared around twelve years ago. Initially, the discomfort that it caused was bearable but in the last few months, it increased in size and became even more painful. Raheem decided to visit a local hospital to get a medical opinion on it. The doctor examined him and conducted a few tests. The condition was diagnosed as inguinal hernia. Raheem was advised to get inguinal hernioplasty for it. This surgical procedure is done to repair a weakened area in the abdominal wall through which abdominal contents may slip into a tube called the inguinal canal. The inguinal canal is located in the groin region.

Since, Raheem has been living with the uncomfortable condition for a number of years, he does want to get it surgically repaired. But, at the moment, he is going through a rough period financially. He works as an operating theater attendant and earns only PKR 24,000 per month.

“In this grave period of inflation, I cannot afford to spend so much money on my surgery because then I would not have enough money left for the household expenses. I will just keep on living in discomfort like I have for so many years.”– said Raheem

Raheem Saleem's Story

Twelve years ago, Raheem Saleem, aged 26 years, fell and hurt his left leg around the groin region. This led to swelling and formation of a lump in that region. Initially pain killers were helpful in curing the pain so Raheem ignored the lump. However, it started hurting again a few months back. When Raheem got it checked by a physician, it was diagnosed as inguinal hernia on the left side. The doctor advised inguinal herniorrhaphy surgery for it. For this reason, Raheem was admitted to Akram Medical Complex and the surgery was performed by Dr. Ahmed Fawad on 06.05.2021. He stayed in the hospital for one day and was discharged in a stable condition. Raheem is delighted to be able to walk without the painful lump now since he had been enduring the discomfort for more than a decade.
