Donate for Safia’s Knee Replacement
Safia Bibi's Story
Safia Bibi is facing difficulty in walking and standing up on her own. Your donations can be a helping hand in her debilitating walk of life. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Safia’s Knee Replacement.
For the last four years, Safia has been suffering from pain in her knee joints. The pain worsened over time. Her condition was diagnosed as Bilateral Osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes the cartilage in the knee joint to thin out. In consequence, the surfaces of the joint become roughened, thus creating friction. As a result, the movement becomes painful, and the joint becomes stiff. Due to this condition, Safia is not able to get up or walk. Moreover, the pain has become unbearable for her.
To treat this, the orthopaedic surgeon has advised Safia to undergo a bilateral total knee replacement surgery. It is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability. At first, the orthopaedic surgeon will perform this surgery on the right side. Later, after her right leg recovers, it will be performed on her left side as well. While the knee replacement seems like an easy solution to all of Safia’s problems, it is certainly not an accessible solution.
Unfortunately, Safia Bibi’s husband cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. He works as a security guard and hardly earns PKR. 30,000 per month. With this measly income, he has to raise a family of three. He told us:
“Even if I save for an entire lifetime, I won’t be able to save enough for my wife’s surgery. Her pain has become unbearable now. You can help Safia get back on her feet.”
After a lot of distress, Safia has registered her case with Transparent Hands. Your donations, however small they may be, will help Safia get back on her feet. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Safia’s Knee Replacement as much as you can.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
