45 years old Gharani Bibi has been suffering from uterine fibroids for the past two years. Fibroids are tumors that grow between the muscles of the uterus and cause severe pain in the pelvic region. Few years ago, the gynecologist advised her to undergo a surgery at the very first stage of her condition. But, due to poor financial condition, she could not afford it. As a result, the condition worsened over the years. Now, it has become a hindrance in her daily activities.

The doctors have advised her to get a gynecological surgery named Total Abdominal Hysterectomy (TAH). TAH is a surgery in which the gynecologist permanently removes the uterus and cervix. Without surgery, Gharani Bibi’s life would stay compromised.

Gharani Bibi hails from the district of Mardan. Her husband, the sole earner of the family works at a small departmental store in their locality. He hardly earns PKR 16000 per month. Gharanai Bibi, 45 years old, suffered from lower abdominal pain and polymenorrhea. On medical consultation, she was diagnosed with multiple fibroids in her uterus. The doctors advised surgical intervention. For this purpose, Gharanai was admitted in Ahmed Medical Complex and her total abdominal hysterectomy along with salpingo-oophorectomy was performed by Dr. Nuzhat Jehangir on 13.01.2021. She stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in a stable condition. Gharanai is slowly recovering from her major surgery.
