Hijab Fatima's Story

“She is only in 4th grade. Other children her age can play around happily. I want the same for her. I want her life to be as a child’s life should be: joyful and healthy” – Hijab’s mother

10 year old Hijab Fatima was born with ASD (Atrial Septal Defect), more commonly known as a hole in the heart. Her parents found out about her condition only six months ago, when a doctor alerted them of her rapid breathing rate.

Upon diagnosis, the family visited a hospital in Faisalabad for treatment. The doctors demanded almost half a million PKR for her surgery. Hijab’s father has a private job in a food company that brings home 20,000 PKR a month. With this salary, he has to feed his family, fund the children’s schooling and run their house. The surgery expenses were not at all affordable for him.

They finally came to Lahore and found out about Transparent Hands. Hijab’s father has reached out for help.
