Khursheed Bibi is a 71 years old woman who met with an accident 10 years ago. As a result of her accident, her hips joints got fractured and she had to undergo urgent surgery for her joints. Ten years have passed and now her hips joints are fractured again. Doctor has diagnosed her with Avascular Necrosis of Femoral Head resulting in the death of bone tissue due to lack of blood supply. Also called osteonecrosis, it can lead to tiny breaks in the bone and the bone’s eventual collapse.

The doctors have advised her to undergo Total Hip Replacement surgery for permanent relief. Without surgery, she’ll never be able to walk on her feet again. Her poor family cannot afford to pay for her surgery. They visited a local hospital for help but unfortunately, the hospital was already overcrowded with patients so they couldn’t give any date for her surgery. Luckily, they came to know about Transparent Hands through someone and they visited this organization for help.

Khursheed Bibi's Story

Khursheed Bibi, 71 years old, had a roadside accident and broke her left femur neck. This resulted in avascular necrosis of femoral head. An Austin Moore implant had been previously placed, which had now broken. Due to this, Khursheed bibi was unable to bear weight on her affected leg and was advised total hip replacement (THR). Her surgery- a total hip arthroplasty (THA) with a cemented and long stem implant- was done at Akram Medical Complex, on 26-11-19, by Dr Zahid Siddiq. She had an uneventful post op recovery and was discharged after three days of hospital stay with follow up advice.
