Muhammad Basit Bahu's Story
“Basit is my only son and it pains me to see him in this condition. I try very hard every day to provide for my family but I cannot afford the medical treatment that he needs. I may have failed him but you can still help him recover.” –Basit’s father
Basit is a 2-year-old boy born with a birth defect called anorectal malformation in which the anus and rectum do not develop properly. He underwent his first surgery, a colostomy, when he was only 1 day old in a local hospital. In this surgery, a stool bag was temporarily attached to his tummy. Now, in order to permanently correct his back passage, he requires PSARP (posterior sagittal anorectoplasty) surgery as soon as possible after which, he will be able to perform his bowel function normally.
Basit belongs to a family of 5. His father, a daily wager, earns a very small amount of money each month to support his wife and three children. He does not own a house so he has to pay 2500 PKR for rent, which leaves him with very little to meet his family’s basic needs. Since he cannot afford his son’s surgical expenses, he contacted his local hospital again for free surgery but they gave him a waiting time of several years. Basit cannot wait that long as his condition is adversely affecting his hygiene and health.
When Basit’s father learned about Transparent Hands, he requested for help.
Please come forward and donate for Basit’s surgery. Your contributions can help this boy completely recover from his congenital condition.
