Empower Nusrat with Cataract Surgery

Nusrat Bibi's Story
Nusrat Bibi, a 43-year-old woman from Hyderabad, has been struggling with blurry vision for three months. Her worsening eyesight has made it increasingly difficult for her to perform everyday tasks such as managing her household and caring for her three children. Recently, Nusrat visited an eye specialist, who performed medical tests and diagnosed her with a cataract in her right eye. To restore her clear vision, the doctor advised phacoemulsification (phaco) with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Unfortunately, Nusrat’s family cannot afford the cost of this essential surgery.
If Nusrat does not receive the surgery, her cataract may worsen, leading to complete blindness in her right eye. This will make her increasingly dependent on her family for even the simplest tasks, severely affecting her quality of life.
Nusrat’s husband works as a daily wage laborer, earning a modest income of PKR 20,000 per month. They have three children, two of whom are studying. The family lives in a rented house, paying PKR 5000 in rent each month. They struggle to cover their basic needs, including utility bills of PKR 1000 and educational expenses of PKR 1200. Due to their financial hardships, the family is unable to pay for the Nusrat’s much-needed surgery. During this time of need, Nusrat turned to Transparent Hands and asked for assistance.
Nusrat shared her feelings by saying:
“My vision keeps getting worse, and I fear losing it completely. I want to be there for my children and take care of them, but this condition has made life so difficult. We can’t afford this surgery. I need your help. “

Nusrat Bibi's Story
Nusrat Bibi, a 43-year-old woman from Hyderabad, had been suffering from blurry vision in her right eye for the past three months. Her condition made it increasingly difficult for her to manage household chores and care for her three children. Each day became a challenge as her vision continued to deteriorate. Concerned about her worsening condition, she finally visited an eye specialist at a local hospital. After conducting some medical tests, the doctor diagnosed her with a cataract in her right eye. To restore her sight, the doctor advised Phacoemulsification (Phaco) with Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation. However, the cost of the surgery was more than what Nusrat’s family could manage.
Nusrat’s husband, a daily wage laborer, earns just PKR 20,000 a month. Out of this limited income, they pay PKR 5000 for house rent and must cover the cost of food, utility bills, and the school expenses of their two school-going children. These necessities left them with no means to afford her eye surgery, which was essential for her to resume her daily life. During this difficult time, a relative informed them about Transparent Hands. With hope in their hearts, Nusrat’s family reached out for support. After assessing her case and verifying her medical condition, Transparent Hands registered her for surgery.
On February 6, 2025, Nusrat’s eye surgery was performed at Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. Dr. Rizwan performed the procedure smoothly, and Nusrat was discharged in a stable condition with greatly improved vision.
Nusrat was overwhelmed with gratitude, and she said:
“I can finally see clearly again. You brought light back into my life. Thank you for helping me when we had no one else to turn to.”
Your generous support gave Nusrat the gift of sight. She can now perform her daily tasks with ease.
This change in her life was made possible just because of your generous support. Her family is incredibly grateful to you.
