Empower Shanwar Through Cataract Surgery
Muhammad Shanwar's Story
Muhammad Shanwar, an eight-year-old resident of Kabirwala, has faced a significant challenge in his young life—a cataract in his left eye. This condition has not only caused discomfort but has also hindered his ability to fully experience the world around him.
Upon discovering Shanwar’s condition, his parents took him to a local hospital for medical assistance. The doctor prescribed surgery, specifically LMA and IOL (Lens matter aspiration), as the optimal solution to correct his shortsightedness caused by the cataract. Shanwar underwent the first cataract surgery on his right eye through Transparent Hands in February 2024. Now, the doctor advised Shanwar to proceed with the left eye surgery to address the cataract.
Shanwar lives with his parents and two sisters in their own house in Kabirwala. His father works as a laborer, earning an income of around 21,000 PKR per month. With the family’s sole breadwinner earning such a modest income, he faces numerous financial challenges. He struggles to meet the daily expenses, including school fees of 2,000 PKR and utility bills of 3,000 PKR. As a result, they are unable to gather the funds necessary for Shanwar’s left eye cataract surgery.
Shanwar’s father said in despair:
“As a father, I long to see my son’s eyes filled with joy and curiosity. Your contributions for Shanwar’s left eye cataract surgery will restore his vision and bring back the spark in his life.”
We stepped in to support Shanwar’s case. We aim to provide him with the opportunity for a brighter future by covering the cost of the surgery. Your contribution can make a significant impact on Shanwar’s life. By donating to his cause, you will directly support the funding of the left eye surgery that will restore his vision. Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Muhammad Shanwar's Story
Muhammad Shanwar, an 8-year-old boy from Khanewal, was suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. Upon consultation with a doctor, he was diagnosed with a cataract in his left eye. To restore his vision, the doctor recommended LMA+IOL surgery. However, affording the cost of the surgery was beyond his family’s financial abilities as he was already facing financial hardships. His family has a meager monthly income and they live in a modest home.
Shanwar’s life was badly affected by his visual impairment. He used to bump into things while walking and carrying out routine tasks became significantly challenging. He desperately needed the surgery but was unable to pay for it. If left untreated, the cataract could have become worse and increased the risk of glaucoma and even blindness. During this time of need, his family contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to his concerns, we promptly registered the case.
Dr. Asif Manzoor performed his left LMA+ IOL surgery at Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Hospital on 11th May 2024. His parents said with happiness,
“Our son can see clearly. Thanks for your help!”
The patient’s family is incredibly grateful to you for supporting Shanwar and making this surgery possible through Transparent Hands. Your support has brought light back into his life. Not only did you restore his vision but also allowed him to spend his life with independence and dignity. They will never forget your generosity.
