Ghulam Haider's Story

Meet Ghulam Haider, a 44-year-old resident of Jhang, who has been suffering from persistent left knee pain and discomfort for many years. Simple activities like walking, standing up, and climbing stairs have become painful and difficult for him. Ghulam Haider received a medical consultation from a doctor. After conducting an X-ray and some medical tests, the doctor diagnosed him with left knee Osteoarthritis, a condition when the knee joint cartilage breaks down and causes the bones to rub together. The doctor recommended left Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgery to alleviate Ghulam Haider’s pain and restore his mobility. However, the significant cost of the surgery is beyond his financial means.

Ghulam Haider’s previous right total knee replacement surgery was done with the help of Transparent Hands on November 17, 2020. Now, he needs this surgery for his left knee. If he doesn’t get the surgery soon, his knee joint’s condition will continue to worsen. There may be a permanent loss of movement, making him unable to stand, sit, and walk.

Ghulam Haider lives in a one-room brick house with his wife and two children. He works as a brick maker at a brick kiln and earns PKR 25000 monthly, an amount just enough to cover essentials. He has two sons – one is a student and the other one is ill with thalassemia. The family faces monthly educational expenses of PKR 3000 in addition to the utility bills of PKR 1500. Due to their financial constraints, they can’t cover the cost of the much-needed surgery.

During this challenging time, Ghulam Haider reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. He expressed his heartfelt plea as follows:

“All I want is to walk and perform my routine tasks independently. Every day is a struggle for me and this constant pain is unbearable now. I work to the point of exhaustion but still can’t pay for the costly surgery. Kindly help me overcome this condition.”

This knee replacement surgery is crucial for Ghulam Haider as it will alleviate his pain and allow him to carry out routine tasks without limitations. Moreover, it will enable him to live a struggle-free life with improved knee mobility.

We need your contribution to provide Ghulam Haider with the hope and help he needs. Let’s join hands to enable Ghulam Haider to lead a happy and healthy life.

Ghulam Haider's Story

Ghulam Haider, a 44-year-old resident of Jhang, had been experiencing pain and stiffness in his left knee for many years. The discomfort made even simple movements like walking, standing, and climbing stairs increasingly challenging. Concerned about his worsening condition, Ghulam Haider received medical advice from a doctor. After a thorough examination, X-rays, and medical tests, the doctor diagnosed him with left knee osteoarthritis. To relieve his pain and restore his mobility, the doctor recommended a left total knee replacement (TKR) surgery. However, the cost of the procedure was far beyond his financial capacity.

Ghulam Haider lived in a small one-room brick house with his wife and two children. He worked as a brickmaker at a brick kiln, earning just PKR 25,000 per month. This meager income barely covered their basic household expenses, including food and shelter. The thought of affording such an expensive surgery was overwhelming for him. As his condition continued to deteriorate, he and his family began to lose hope. Desperate for a solution, Ghulam Haider turned to Transparent Hands for assistance.

On January 17, 2025, Ghulam Haider was admitted to PSRD (Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of the Disabled) in Lahore. The surgery took place on January 18, 2025. Dr. Saleem Bashir successfully performed his total knee replacement. He stayed in the hospital for three days. After receiving post-operative care, Ghulam Haider was discharged in satisfactory condition on January 21, 2025.

With heartfelt gratitude, Ghulam Haider shared his happiness as follows:

“For a long time, I lived with unbearable pain. I was unable to move freely or work properly. I never imagined that I would walk without this discomfort again. Today, I feel like I have been given a new life. I am grateful for your kind support and I will always remember this generosity."

Ghulam Haider loooks forward to living an independent life. Now, he can carry out his routine tasks and perform efficiently at work. His family is deeply grateful to you for helping Ghulam Haider and giving him a pain-free life.
