52 years old Bashiran Bibi has been experiencing weakness and heavy menstrual bleeding for the last seven years. At first, Bashiran Bibi didn’t consult a doctor. However, later her ailment became a cause of great distress. Now, she is facing severe pain in her lower abdomen. Moreover, she cannot stand or walk for long. Upon these persistent symptoms, Bashiran Bibi consulted a doctor. The doctor immediately referred her to a gynaecologist who diagnosed Bashiran Bibi with Uterine Fibroids. Uterine fibroids are abnormal growths in the uterus that cause severe pain and heavy menstrual bleeding. The gynaecologist advised her to get a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy (TAH) as soon as possible. TAH is a surgery in which the gynaecologist permanently removes the uterus and cervix. Without surgery, Bashiran’s life would stay compromised. Bashiran Bibi’s husband passed away 15 years ago. Now, all the burden to keep up with the household expenses falls on her youngest son. He works as a security guard and hardly earns 17000 per month. Bashiran Bibi's Story

Bashiran Bibi, 52 years old, suffered from lower abdominal pain and heavy menstrual bleeding for five years. On medical consultation, she was diagnosed with fibroid uterus and was advised surgical intervention by her gynaecologist. For this purpose, Bashiran was admitted in Lahore Care Hospital and her total abdominal hysterectomy along with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy was performed by Dr. Rakshanda Toheed on 22.01.2021. She stayed in the hospital for four days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Bashiran is slowly recovering from her surgery and has resumed her routine activities.
