Let’s Restore Muhammad Talha’s Hearing
Muhammad Talha's Story
Muhammad Talha, a two-year-old boy from Khairpur, Sindh, has struggled with congenital sensorineural hearing loss ever since he was born. When he was around a year old, his parents became aware of his condition since he was not responding to their voices. Feeling worried, they took him to the closest hospital right away, where a number of diagnostic procedures were performed. Muhammad Talha was found to have sensorineural deafness after the evaluation.
Talha was advised by the doctor to undergo cochlear implant surgery. A cochlear implant is an amazing medical technology that stimulates the auditory nerve directly with electrical stimulation in order to restore hearing. It consists of exterior and internal parts. The external portion is worn behind the ear and processes sounds before sending them to the inner implant.
Muhammad Talha lives in a small 2-marla home with his parents, grandparents, and one sister in Khairpur. His father earns PKR 49,000 a month as a government employee, supporting the family alone. With this limited salary, the family’s other financial commitments—such as rent and other daily expenses—have put them in a vulnerable situation where they cannot afford the costly cochlear implant procedure.
Muhammad Talha’s father said in despair:
“As a parent, it hurts to see how my child’s hearing issue prevents him from experiencing life to the fullest. Although I am hopeful about the possibility of a cochlear implant surgery, I am really concerned about the financial strain it would put on my shoulders. Kindly help me to arrange funds for my son’s surgery and provide him with a future full of limitless opportunities.”
Muhammad Talha’s parents contacted Transparent Hands to seek financial support to help their child. Your donation can make a significant difference in this young child’s life, enabling him to engage with the world around him and reach his full potential.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Muhammad Talha's Story
Muhammad Talha, a 2-year-old boy from Khairpur, Sindh, had been struggling to hear since birth. His parents noticed his hearing impairment when he was one year old. He wasn’t responding to sounds. His parents received a consultation from a doctor, who ran some medical tests and diagnosed Talha with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery to enable him to hear his parents’ comforting voices and the sounds around him. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery weighed heavily on Talha’s family.
For Talha’s parents, giving him the gift of hearing was their biggest wish but they couldn’t afford it. The family lives in a small brick house. Talha’s father is a government employee with a meager monthly income. After struggling for a while, Talha’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance.
On 25th July 2024, Talha was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat, where Dr. Maqbool Ahmed performed his cochlear implant surgery on 26th July 2024. The internal component of the cochlear implant was carefully inserted, giving Talha and his parents new hope and courage. Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was installed. With regular follow-ups and speech therapy sessions, Talha began to show signs of improvement. Every little sound he responded to was a victory.
Talha’s parents shared their emotions as follows:
“Watching our son responding and hearing the sounds is like a distant dream turned into reality. It is comforting to see his recovery. He is learning new words every day. We are grateful to you for transforming Talha’s life and allowing him to leave his silent world.”
Today, Talha is on his way to a bright future. His life is filled with sounds that he had never known before. You made a significant difference in his life.
