Horain Fatima's Story

Horain, a 4-year-old girl from Sargodha, carries the weight of a life-threatening heart condition that casts a shadow over her innocence and childhood. Despite her tender age, Horain battles daily with symptoms that rob her of the joys of childhood—shortness of breath, chest pain, and an inability to gain weight—showing signs of a grave underlying issue. It was a year into her life when her parents first noticed these distressing symptoms, prompting them to seek medical help. After undergoing diagnostic tests and evaluations, a stark diagnosis was laid before them: Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart defect characterized by four heart abnormalities that threaten her very survival. The only glimmer of hope for Horain is a life-saving open-heart surgery, a procedure that promises a chance at a normal life.

Residing in a modest home with her loving parents and siblings, Horain’s family finds themselves in a dire financial predicament. Her father, the family’s sole breadwinner, earns a meager PKR 25,000 per month as a driver—a sum barely sufficient to cover their basic needs, let alone the exorbitant cost of the necessary cardiac surgery. Overwhelmed by the magnitude of his daughter’s medical needs, her father shared:
