Support Rehan’s Cochlear Implant Surgery
Muhammad Rehan's Story
Meet Rehan, a 2-year-old boy from Shadad Kot, Sindh, who isn’t responding to sounds. His parents noticed his condition when he was one year old. Concerned about his condition, Rehan’s parents consulted an audiologist, who diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). Rehan can’t respond to his parents’ voices and misses out on various childhood activities. The doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery, which will enable him to hear.
Rehan’s future will remain at stake if his parents can’t manage to get him the cochlear implant device. Sensorineural Hearing loss can lead to developmental and emotional challenges if not addressed on time. Rehan’s parents want to give him a bright future with no struggles and hardships. However, the significant cost of the surgery is overwhelming for them.
Rehan lives in his grandfather’s two-room mud house along with 11 family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a teacher and brings in PKR 20,000 monthly. The entire family relies upon him for their living expenses. Due to financial constraints, he can’t afford to pay for his son’s surgery.
Rehan’s parents said in despair:
“It is heartbreaking to see our son unable to hear the sounds around him. If his hearing impairment isn’t treated, he will face many challenges in continuing his education, participating in sports, and enjoying his childhood. Due to our limited resources, we can’t afford the surgery’s cost. Please help our son.”
In this time of hardship, Transparent Hands has registered his case and aims to help Rehan. Through cochlear implant surgery, Rehan will be able to hear sounds and his loved ones’ voices and learn how to respond to them.
Your contributions, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference in Rehan’s and his parents’ lives. Join us in supporting him and enabling him to hear the voices of his parents and friends.
