Sameen Ayyaz, a 14-year-old resident of Sahiwal, has faced the profound challenge of being deaf since birth. When Sameen was just one year old, her parents noticed she did not react to their voices. Concerned, they took her to a local hospital, where she underwent tests. The diagnostic tests revealed that Sameen suffered from sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery as a solution. A cochlear implant is a small electronic device that stimulates the cochlear nerve, which is responsible for hearing. It consists of internal and external components, with the outer part capturing sounds through a microphone, processing them, and transmitting them to the inner part of the implant.
Sameen resides with her parents and two siblings. Her father, a hardworking laborer, earns a monthly income of PKR 30,000. However, due to their financial constraints, he cannot afford the costly surgery.
He shared his distress, stating, “Our lives turned upside down when we received the news of Sameen’s hearing loss. Without the surgery, I worry about her future. Please support us by donating now.”
