Muhammad Uzair's Story

Muhammad Uzair, a two-year-old boy from Kasur, is struggling with pain due to a lump in the right inguinoscrotal region. As the swelling gradually increased in size and became painful, his worried parents took him to a doctor for an evaluation. After the necessary examinations, the doctor diagnosed Uzair with a right inguinal hernia and hydrocele. An inguinal hernia occurs when part of the intestine pushes through a weak area in the lower abdominal wall, while a hydrocele is the buildup of fluid around the testicle that causes swelling. To relieve his pain and prevent further complications, the doctor advised Herniotomy and Hydrocelectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the treatment is beyond his family’s financial means. If Uzair does not receive the recommended Herniotomy and Hydrocelectomy, the hernia may become trapped and cut off the blood supply to a portion of the intestine. This can lead to severe pain, intestinal damage, vomiting, and the need for more complex treatment. The hydrocele may continue to enlarge, causing persistent swelling and discomfort.

Uzair lives with his parents and two siblings in their modest home in Kasur. His father, Rizwan Ali, is the only earning member of the family and works as a laborer, earning just PKR 30,000 per month. This modest income is used to manage household expenses, utility bills of PKR 2,000, and educational expenses of PKR 2,000. After covering these essential needs, they have no savings left to afford Uzair’s surgery.

Uzair’s parents shared their heartfelt plea as follows:

“Our son is living in pain at such a young age. We feel helpless because we cannot afford the cost of his surgery. He can recover with your support.”
