Shayan Khan's Story

Shayan Khan, a 12-year-old boy from KPK, is living with a serious health condition that is affecting his life in multiple ways. He experiences shortness of breath, chest discomfort, and frequent fatigue, making it difficult to keep up with daily activities. Even routine tasks leave him exhausted. Concerned about his worsening health, his family took him to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. After detailed medical evaluations, Shayan was diagnosed with Pulmonary Regurgitation (PR). It is a condition in which the pulmonary valve does not close properly, causing blood to flow backward into the heart. Shayan previously underwent Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) repair when he was just two years old. However, his symptoms have returned and his condition has deteriorated over time. The doctor has now advised redo open-heart surgery for Pulmonary Valve Replacement. Without the recommended surgery, his heart function may continue to decline, increasing the risk of serious complications and limiting his ability to lead a healthy life.

Shayan lives with his parents and four siblings in their modest home in KPK. His father is the only earning member of the family and works as a driver, earning just PKR 28,000 per month. The family is also burdened with a loan of PKR 150,000, making their financial situation even more challenging. Given their financial situation, they are unable to afford the cost of the surgery.

With hope in his voice, Shayan’s father said:

“My son has already gone through one heart surgery, and now he needs another one to live a healthy life. Watching his struggle with a heart condition again is very painful for our family. I work hard every day, but my income is not enough to afford this treatment. Kindly help my son receive the surgery.”
