Ali Hassan's Story

Ali Hassan is a two-year-old boy from Naushahro Feroze, Sindh, who has spent his early years with a congenital health condition. Since birth, he has experienced an abnormal urinary stream and difficulty passing urine, making even a basic bodily function uncomfortable. Concerned about his condition, his parents recently took him to a doctor for a medical evaluation. After the necessary examinations and laboratory tests, the doctor diagnosed Ali with subcoronal hypospadias. It is a birth condition in which the opening of the urethra is located below its normal position on the penis. To correct the condition and help him urinate normally, the doctor advised Urethroplasty. Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure is far beyond his family’s financial capacity. Without the recommended surgery, Ali may continue to experience difficulty urinating and face an increased risk of urinary tract infections and urinary blockage as he grows. The condition may also affect the normal function and development of the penis.

Ali lives with his parents and two sisters in his grandfather’s modest mud house in Naushahro Feroze. His father, Gul Hassan, is the only earning member of the family and works as a daily wage laborer. Despite working hard, he earns only PKR 25,000 per month, which is used to provide food and other basic necessities for the entire family of six. With such limited resources, affording Ali’s much-needed surgery is impossible for the family.

Ali’s father shared his heartfelt plea as follows:

“My son is very young, and it hurts me to see him struggle with this condition every day. I work as hard as I can, but my income is only enough to provide for my family’s basic needs. Kindly help my son undergo this much-needed treatment so he can recover.”
