Jawad Ahmad’s Knee Replacement Surgery Was Successful

Jawad Ahmad, a 23-year-old man from Mardan, KPK, had been experiencing hip and knee pain for ten years. He was unable to walk and perform routine activities without assistance due to pain in both of his legs. After conducting an initial diagnosis, Jawad was advised to undergo a Total Hip Replacement (THR) surgery. His first THR was performed in 2022, and the second was arranged by Transparent Hands in 2024. Recently, the doctors advised him to undergo Total knee Replacement Surgery to improve his mobility. However, Jawad couldn’t afford this surgery.

Jawad has been unemployed due to his physical condition and is reliant on his family for support. He resides in a rented three-marla house. Only two of his nine family members are employed. His father is a farmer, while his older brother works as a laborer. Together, they earn approximately Rs. 50,000 per month, which is insufficient to meet their family’s needs. Affording Jawad’s surgery is beyond the family’s means.

On April 30, 2025, Jawad successfully underwent left-sided Total Knee Replacement surgery at Zia Darman Hospital in Mardan. Dr. Aiman Zia successfully performed his surgery. After receiving post-operative care, Jawad was discharged from the hospital on May 2, 2025.

After the surgery, Jawad is very hopeful that he will be able to lead a fulfilling life. He expressed his hope and gratitude as follows:

“I am extremely thankful to everyone who supported me. There were times when I thought that I would never be able to live a normal life, but your kindness has helped me recover immensely. I don’t have the words to thank you enough!”
