Kousar Received an Arificial Leg with Your Support

Kousar Bibi's Story

Kousar Bibi, a 45-year-old woman from Sheikhupura, had been facing significant challenges in standing and walking independently. Her right leg was severely affected by cancer, which had limited her mobility and made everyday tasks extremely difficult. When she went to a doctor, he decided to amputate her right leg above the knee. The news was overwhelming for Kousar, as she realized that performing daily activities as she used to would no longer be possible. To help her regain independence, her doctor advised the use of an above-knee prosthesis.

Unfortunately, the cost of the prosthesis was beyond the family’s financial capacity. Kousar lives in a modest home with her husband and seven children. Her husband is the sole provider for the family, running a small sweet shop that brings in only PKR 30,000 per month. This limited income is barely sufficient to cover basic household expenses, leaving no room for a costly medical procedure. During this challenging period, Kousar’s family reached out to Transparent Hands for support. After reviewing her case, it was registered.

Kousar received an above-knee prosthesis at the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of Differently Abled (PSRD) on September 8, 2025. The prosthesis was carefully adjusted and tested to ensure comfort and proper alignment. The procedure was performed under the supervision of Dr. Shabana Naz.

Kousar shared her feelings as follows:
“After losing my leg, I felt helpless and feared I would never walk or perform daily tasks again. However, after receiving this artificial leg, I am hopeful again. Your support has given me freedom, strength, and the ability to live my life fully again.”

Today, Kousar is walking with ease and gradually resuming her daily activities. She is now able to care for her family more effectively. Kousar and her family are deeply grateful to you for restoring her mobility and giving her a chance to live an active life once again.
