Anwar Ghulam Abbas's Story

Anwar Ghulam Abbas, a 41-year-old woman from Hyderabad, had spent the last four years battling with pain in the upper right side of her abdomen. Frequent episodes of nausea, indigestion, and abdominal pain made it difficult for her to complete household chores and care for her four children. As her condition worsened, even routine activities became exhausting. Concerned about her health, Anwar underwent an evaluation at a local hospital. After a series of diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed her with cholelithiasis, a condition caused by the formation of gallstones in the gallbladder. To eliminate the source of her pain and prevent future complications, the doctor recommended laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder.

For Anwar’s family, paying for the surgery was impossible. Her husband was unemployed, leaving the household with very limited financial resources. Her son, the only earning member of the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and earned just PKR 15,000 per month. The family struggled to meet basic living expenses, making treatment unaffordable. During this time of need, she contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help. After reviewing Anwar’s medical reports and assessing the family’s financial circumstances, Transparent Hands registered her case for treatment.

On May 13, 2026, Anwar was admitted to the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. The following day, May 14, 2026, her laparoscopic cholecystectomy was successfully performed by Dr. Jaweria Memon. Following post-operative care and observation, Anwar recovered well and was discharged in stable condition on May 16, 2026.
