You Empowered Muhammad Yaar with an Artificial Leg

Muhammad Yaar's Story

Muhammad Yaar, a 55-year-old man from Lahore, was living a difficult life after an accident. While working with a machine, he experienced a crush injury to his right leg that made his life challenging. When he was taken to the hospital, the doctors had no option but to amputate his right leg below the knee. Since then, he had been using crutches for walking. His quality of life was badly affected. His doctor advised him to receive a right below-knee prosthesis. Unfortunately, the cost of the artificial limb was beyond his means.

Muhammad Yaar lives in a modest rented home with his joint family of nine members. Yaar is unable to work due to his disability. To survive, he often asks others for help and manages to collect around PKR 15,000 per month. His son works as a laborer and earns PKR 30,000 per month. This income is extremely insufficient to cover expenses of such a large family. Due to their financial constraints, they couldn’t afford Yaar’s much-needed prosthesis. During this time of difficulty, Yaar reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Moved by his plea, we registered his case.

On May 7, 2026, Muhammad Yaar received his below-knee prosthesis at the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of Differently Abled (PSRD) in Lahore. The procedure was performed under the supervision of Dr. Shabana Naz.

Muhammad Yaar expressed his gratitude as follows:

“Life had become very challenging for me. Every day was a struggle because I couldn’t move independently and had to rely on others for support. After receiving my prosthesis, I feel a new sense of relief. I am incredibly grateful to you for helping me when I had nowhere else to turn.”
