You Gave Umar the Precious Gift of Hearing

Muhammad Umar's Story

Muhammad Umar, a 2-year-old boy from Faisalabad, had never experienced sounds since birth. He could not respond when his parents called his name, react to the voices of his loved ones, or enjoy the cheerful sounds of toys around him. As Umar grew older, his parents became increasingly concerned because he was unable to hear the sounds that are an important part of a child’s learning and development. Hoping to find an answer, Umar’s parents took him to a local hospital for an evaluation. After a comprehensive examination, the doctor diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). This condition occurs when the inner ear or the hearing nerve does not function properly, making it difficult or impossible to hear sounds naturally. To help Umar hear and recognize sounds, the doctor recommended a hearing aid.

Umar lives in a modest two-room brick house with his joint family of six members. His father works as a driver and earns only PKR 28,000 per month, while his mother contributes to the household by working as a seamstress and earns around PKR 18,000 per month. Their combined income is spent on food, household expenses, utility bills, and the needs of the entire family. His family reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. After listening to their concerns, we registered his case.

On June 17, 2026, Umar received a STARKEY EVOLV BTE 2000 Power Plus Hearing Aid with an earmold. The device was installed under the supervision of Dr. Aqsa Tanvir. Complete fitting, adjustment, and testing of the device were successfully carried out.

Umar’s parents expressed their gratitude as follows:

“We dreamed of the day our son would begin to hear the voices around him. We wanted to provide him with the hearing aid , but it was beyond our financial reach. Today, Umar is beginning a new chapter in his life with the support of his hearing aid.
