You Healed Ibrahim’s Little Heart
Lbrahim Shahbaz's Story
Ibrahim, an innocent 3-year-old boy from Sialkot, had been suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort since the day he was born. His lips and skin often took on a bluish color, and he was not gaining proper weight. As Ibrahim grew, so did his health issues, leaving his parents in a constant state of worry. They consulted a doctor, who, after a thorough examination and evaluation diagnosed him with several severe congenital heart defects, including Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), Multiple Ventricular Septal Defects (VSD), and Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (RVOTO). To treat these defects, the doctor recommended Angiography followed by Open Heart Surgery for total correction.
The surgery was far beyond their means, and the idea of being unable to save their son’s life due to their financial condition was devastating. Ibrahim’s father is a daily wage laborer with a meager monthly income of PKR 25,000 per month. With the burden of utility bills and household expenses, they had no room left for savings to pay for the surgery. During this challenging time, Ibrahim’s parents found Transparent Hands and asked us for help.
The day of hope arrived. On May 27, 2024, Ibrahim was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital Lahore. The surgery was scheduled for May 29, 2024, and his open-heart surgery was performed by Dr. Asim Khan. The open-heart surgery was a complex and delicate procedure, but Dr. Asim and his team were determined to save Ibrahim’s life.
After several days of close monitoring and critical care, Ibrahim was discharged from the hospital on June 4, 2024. Ibrahim’s parents expressed their emotions as follows:
“It’s comforting to know that our son’s future is secure. You have given our son a new life. He can now play, grow, and thrive like other kids. We are overwhelmed with happiness and can’t describe our emotions in words. You saved Ibrahim’s life, we are wholeheartedly thankful to you!”
Ibrahim’s surgery was not just a medical procedure; it was a matter of life and death. But you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation gave him light in his darkest hours. Your generosity has allowed him to enjoy the cherished moments of his childhood.
We are grateful for your donations. You were the miracle Ibrahim needed in his life!
