Ahmed Ali's Story

Ahmed Ali, a 51-year-old resident of Khairpur, had been living with worsening pain in his right hip joint for the past two years. What began as occasional discomfort gradually turned into pain that made even simple movements extremely difficult. Walking short distances required support, and over time, he became increasingly dependent on his family for daily activities. Concerned about his condition, Ahmed visited the doctor at a local hospital. After a detailed clinical evaluation, X-rays, and necessary diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with Advanced Avascular Necrosis (AVN) of the right hip joint. The condition indicated severe damage to the bone due to reduced blood supply, leading to progressive joint collapse. To restore mobility and relieve his pain, the doctor recommended a right-sided Total Hip Replacement (THR).

However, the cost of the surgery was far beyond Ahmed’s financial reach. He had already been unable to work for the past two years due to his deteriorating health. Ahmed lives in a small mud house with his wife and four children. His two sons work as daily wage laborers and collectively earn around PKR 25,000 per month. This limited income is barely enough to manage food, utilities, and other basic household expenses, leaving no possibility of arranging money for surgery. During this difficult time, Ahmed reached out for assistance and his case was registered with Transparent Hands after a thorough evaluation.

On March 30, 2026, Ahmed was admitted to the Isra University Welfare Hospital in Hyderabad. The following day, surgery was performed by Dr. Fahad Jatoi, who successfully conducted the right-sided Total Hip Replacement. The procedure went smoothly without any complications. Ahmed remained under close medical supervision. After showing steady improvement, he was discharged in stable condition on April 3, 2026.
