Aftab Ahmad's Story

Aftab Ahmad, aged fifty-two years, a resident of Karachi, is suffering from Bilateral Knee Osteoarthritis (OA).  OA, like other forms of degenerative arthritis, tends to develop over time and the knee joints are subjected to gradual wear and tear. Aftab Ahmad’s ailment has reached an advanced stage now. Unfortunately both his knees have been severely damaged.  Some common symptoms of OA include, flare-up of knee pain, swelling in the surrounding area, worse pain in the morning after waking up or after any activity, inability to straighten the  knee, grinding or snapping noises as one moves, and overall weakness in the knee. After medical evaluation, Aftab Ahmad has now been advised to undergo Bilateral Total Knee Replacement simultaneously. In this procedure both of his knee joints will be replaced in one go, on the same day under one anesthesia. Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, Aftab Ahmad and his family are failing to afford his medical procedure. He narrates his tale in the following manner:

“Three years back I felt  pain in my knees, so I went to a local clinic for a medical evaluation. The doctor there prescribed me pain killers. I took the medication but my condition only worsened. I decided to visit Diabetic and Diagnostic Center for further investigation of the ailment I suffered from. The doctor there referred me to an Orthopedic Surgeon in a private hospital. The doctor there advised me to undergo a surgery where both my knees will be replaced. Due to financial constraints, me and my family can not afford this treatment. I live in my own house. Me and my six children and their families, we all live together in our house. Two out of my six children are working as labourers and they can hardly support their families. The collective income of my family is PKR.60,000. In this amount, the house is taken care of and the basic needs of the dependants are met with. In these circumstances my surgery is out of the question.”

Luckily, now that Aftab Ahmad and his family have been connected with Transparent Hands, you can make this procedure possible. Generously, Donate for Aftab Ahmad’s orthopaedic surgery which involves Simultaneous Bilateral Total Knee Replacement and assist him in living a pain free life.
