Sughran Bibi's Story

Sughran Bibi awaits hip replacement. For the past two years, Sughran, aged 23 years, a resident of Deera Ghazi Khan, has been suffering from pain and discomfort in her legs. When the pain persisted for a long time, she consulted a doctor. He prescribed her some medicines. Unfortunately the treatment did not prove to be beneficial at all. She continued suffering and later decided to see another doctor. After testing and thorough investigation, the doctor diagnosed Sughran with left hip joint avascular necrosis (AVN). AVN is the death of bone tissue secondary to loss of blood supply.Presently, the only option to treat her ailment is non cemented left total hip replacement surgery. In this surgery the damaged hip joint is replaced. During the process, the surgeon replaces the worn out joint with an artificial joint (prosthesis). Unfortunately, due to financial constraints, Sughran Bibi and her family are unable to afford the hefty cost of this surgery. As Sughran Bibi awaits hip replacement, she narrates her tale in the following words:

“I hate being an inconvenience for my family. I wish for a miracle since I have no other means via which I can rely on having a surgery. I have lived with this problem for almost two years, but it seems like I have been suffering for an eternity. I have two children, but due to this illness I can not look after them properly as well. My husband is a labourer who earns around PKR. 600-800 per month. Sometimes he even comes home empty handed. We live in a joint family system and my husband is the only breadwinner of the family. In these circumstances my surgery seems to be impossible. Whoever is reading this, I request you to please donate for my hip replacement surgery.”

Sughran Bibi's Story

Twenty-three years old Sughran Bibi, from Dera Ghazi Khan, has been suffering from joint pain for the last two years. Upon diagnosis, she was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis. The doctor advised Sughran to undergo a Non-Cemented Total Hip Replacement. Hence she was sent to Bakhtawar Amin Hospital on 15-10-2021. Her procedure was successfully done by Dr. Adeel Razzaque. She was discharged after three days of the hospital stay in a stable condition.
