Muhammad Umer's Story

Muhammad Umer is an innocent little boy who was born without the sense of hearing. Even a small donation from you will bring him one step closer to the world of sounds. Therefore, we request you to support Umer’s Cochlear Implant Surgery as much as you can.

Four-year-old Muhammad Umer, a resident of Charsadda, has not been able to live his early childhood to the fullest like other children. He suffers from Congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss. Umer would often fall sick due to recurrent high fever. His parents noticed that he was not responding to sounds when he was a year old. He was taken to a nearby hospital. Umer underwent a number of hearing tests and after the doctor evaluated the reports, he was diagnosed with Sensorineural Hearing Loss. After the diagnosis was done, Umer’s parents were advised to get him a Cochlear Implant. A cochlear implant receives sound from the outside environment, processes it, and sends small electric currents near the auditory nerve. These electric currents activate the nerve, which then sends a signal to the brain. The brain learns to understand this signal and the person experiences this as “hearing”.

Muhammad Umer’s father works as a laborer and that is the only source of their income. He is the sole earner in the family and supports four family members. They rely on him for their basic needs. With a meager income and no financial support from anyone, they cannot afford to pay for the cochlear implant.

Umer’s mother shared her distress with Transparent Hands in the following manner:

“Every parent tries to go the extra mile to make their children’s lives better, but we cannot even afford our son’s treatment for hearing loss. I cry whenever I think about it. I want him to hear to our voices and all the sounds in this world”

Umer’s father found out about Transparent Hands through a friend. He contacted us for his son’s Cochlear Implant Surgery and we have registered his case.

Now, that Muhammad Umer has been registered with Transparent Hands, we are determined to help him and bring a whole new sense of hearing into his life. But, this is not going to be possible without your donations. Please support Umer’s Cochlear Implant Surgery so that he does not miss out on his childhood.
