Muhammad Abid's Story

Muhammad Abid, a 26-year-old man from Jamshoro, Sindh, has been experiencing bilateral nasal blockage for a long time. He also suffers from repeated episodes of sinusitis, and due to these issues, he faces difficulty in breathing. His condition started after a childhood accident, after which he began to experience upper airway symptoms. He received medicines for it, but found temporary relief only. A few months ago, Abid underwent a detailed medical check-up. After a complete examination and investigations, the doctor diagnosed him with Deviated Nasal Septum and External Nasal Deformity. These are conditions where the internal wall of the nose is malaligned, and the outer shape of the nose is deformed, leading to breathing difficulty and nasal blockage. To properly treat his condition and improve his breathing, the doctor has advised septorhinoplasty. However, the cost of the surgery is beyond his means. Not undergoing the surgery can lead to various complications. It may lead to problems such as chronic respiratory issues and sleep apnea, which will badly affect his quality of life.

Muhammad Abid lives in a modest home with his wife and two children. He runs a small confectionery shop and earns around PKR 20,000 per month. With this meager income, he pays PKR 4,000 for shop rent and around PKR 2,000 for utility bills. He is the sole breadwinner of his family and is responsible for supporting his two young children and wife. Due to his financial constraints, he can’t afford his life-changing surgery.

Muhammad Abid shared his plea as follows:

“I have been struggling to breathe properly for many years. It affects my sleep, work, and daily activities. Medicines only help for a short time. I want to have a normal life, but I cannot afford this surgery. Please help me.”
