Farzana Jan Muhammad's Story

Meet Farzana Jan Muhammad, a 33-year-old woman from Hyderabad, who has been suffering from pain in her upper right abdomen for eight years. She experiences difficulty in digesting fatty meals and frequently suffers from nausea and vomiting, which significantly affect her daily life. Farzana consulted a doctor due to these symptoms. After performing an ultrasound scan and some necessary laboratory tests, the doctor diagnosed Farzana with Cholelithiasis. It is a condition caused by the formation of gallstones in the gallbladder. Initially, she was prescribed medicines, but her condition did not improve. Now, her doctor has advised a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the gallbladder. However, Farzana can’t afford her treatment. If left untreated, her condition will continue to worsen over time. She may develop severe complications like gallbladder infection, bile duct obstruction, or pancreatitis.

Farzana lives with her two children in her father’s house. Her husband left the family two years ago, and he lives separately. Farzana works as a domestic helper and earns a modest income of PKR 7,000 per month. With this meager income, she barely covers her household expenses. She faces immense financial hardships and can’t afford her much-needed surgery. With hope in her heart, she contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
