Pathani Mai, a 57-year-old woman from Multan, is unable to see clearly. For a long time, she has not seen her loved ones’ faces clearly due to her blurry and dim vision. Her quality of life has been significantly affected by her visual impairment. Concerned about her condition, she went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Pathani with a Cataract in her right eye. It is the clouding of the lens of the eye that can lead to impaired vision. To enable her to see clearly, the doctor has recommended right-sided Phaco + IOL surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for her family. If Pathani’s condition is left untreated, the cataract will slowly get worse. It may ultimately increase the risk of blindness. Daily tasks will become more difficult, and her independence will be severely affected.

Pathani lives in a modest home with her husband. Her children are married and live separately. Her husband works as a laborer and earns only PKR 25,000 per month, which is barely enough to cover their daily expenses. With such limited income, arranging money for her surgery is beyond their reach.

With a heavy heart, Pathani shared her plea as follows:

“My eyesight has become so weak that I can no longer see things clearly. I feel helpless when I’m unable to recognize faces and walk around my home. I feel dependent on others for even small tasks. Kindly help me undergo this much-needed surgery.”
