Shoukat Javed's Story

Shoukat Javed, a 35-year-old man from Lahore, is suffering from pain due to a lump in his umbilical region. With time, the swelling has gradually increased in size and has now become more painful. It makes it difficult for him to carry out his routine activities. Recently, he went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed him with a paraumbilical hernia. It is a condition in which an internal tissue pushes through a weak spot near the navel, causing a visible and painful bulge. To treat this condition and prevent further complications, the doctor has advised mesh hernioplasty. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for his family. If left untreated, Shoukat’s condition may worsen over time. The swelling can increase further and may lead to serious complications such as obstruction or strangulation, where the blood supply to the affected area is cut off. That may require emergency treatment, putting his health at serious risk.

Shoukat lives in a rented house with his family of seven. He works as an electrician, and his father is a daily wage laborer. Together, they bring in almost PKR 60,000 per month. They pay PKR 12,000 for house rent, around PKR 2,000 for utility bills, and approximately PKR 20,000 for educational expenses. Due to so many responsibilities, managing daily expenses is already a challenge for them. Given their financial situation, they can’t afford Shoukat’s much-needed surgery.

Shoukat shared his plea as follows:

“I have been suffering from this condition for a long time, and it is getting harder for me to continue my work. I try my best to save money for this surgery. Due to household expenses, I am unable to pay for my treatment. I need your help during this time of need. Kindly donate to my treatment.”
