Naz Begam's Story

Naz Begam, a 47-year-old woman from Keamari, Karachi, had been struggling with heavy and irregular menstrual bleeding for the past year. The continuous bleeding left her feeling weak, fatigued, and physically exhausted. As her condition worsened, even routine household responsibilities became difficult to manage. Hoping to find relief, Naz visited a local hospital for a thorough examination. After evaluating her condition, the doctor diagnosed her with Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB). Although she was initially treated with medicines, her symptoms persisted. To permanently stop the abnormal bleeding and prevent further complications, the doctor recommended Total Abdominal Hysterectomy and Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy. The recommended surgery was out of reach for the family.

Naz lives in a modest home with her husband and four children. Her husband earns approximately PKR 20,000 per month by selling vegetables from a roadside cart. The family’s income is used to manage food, utility bills, and other essential household expenses. Hoping to regain her health, Naz contacted Transparent Hands for assistance. On June 9, 2026, Naz Begam was admitted to the Altamash General Hospital, Karachi. Her Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy was successfully performed by Dr. Bilqees Mustafa on June 10, 2026. After receiving post-operative care and observation, she was discharged in stable condition on June 12, 2026.
