Shayan Haider's Story

Shayan Haider, a 3-year-old boy from Bhakkar, had been living with impaired vision from an early age. His right eye was severely affected, making it difficult for him to see objects clearly and explore the world around him. The blurred vision limited his ability to learn through observation. Watching their son struggle with everyday activities was deeply concerning for his parents. In 2024, Shayan underwent Lens Matter Aspiration (LMA) and Anterior Vitrectomy surgery for his left eye, which helped stabilize his vision. However, his right eye continued to suffer from poor vision. During a follow-up examination, the doctor diagnosed him with a developmental cataract in his right eye. A developmental cataract is a condition in which the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy during childhood, resulting in blurred or reduced vision. To improve his eyesight and support healthy visual development, the doctor recommended cataract surgery for his right eye. The recommended surgery was beyond the family’s financial means.

Shayan’s father works as a daily wage laborer and earns only PKR 20,000 per month. He is the sole earning member of the family and supports his wife and six children. His modest income is spent on food, household expenses, and other basic necessities, leaving no savings for eye treatment. Determined to complete his son’s treatment, Shayan’s family contacted Transparent Hands. After assessing the family’s financial condition and reviewing Shayan’s medical records, his case was registered.

On May 22, 2026, Shayan was admitted to the Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Hospital in Multan. His right-eye LMA with IOL surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Asif Manzoor on May 23, 2026. During the procedure, a CT LUCIA 221P intraocular lens was implanted to improve his vision. After receiving post-operative care and observation, Shayan was discharged in stable condition on the same day.

Expressing his appreciation, Shayan’s father said:

“Seeing my son struggle to recognize the things around him was incredibly difficult. We wanted to complete his treatment, but the cost of the surgery was beyond our reach. Your generosity has given him the opportunity to see the world more clearly. We will always remain thankful for your kindness.”

His parents are happy to see this positive change in their son’s eyesight and are grateful for your generosity, which made this life-changing treatment possible.
