Let’s Open the Door to Sounds for Manha

Manha Mati Ullah's Story
Manha Mati Ullah, a 3-year-old girl from Karachi, has been unable to hear the sounds around her since birth. At an age when most children are learning to speak and express themselves, Manha struggles to communicate her needs. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed a comprehensive examination and diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. To enable her to hear and speak, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. However, the surgical cost is beyond her family’s financial reach.
As she grows, the silence that surrounds her becomes a more challenging barrier, preventing her from fully experiencing the world and connecting with her loved ones. If Manha doesn’t undergo the surgery soon, she might not be able to develop the ability to hear and speak. The sooner she receives the cochlear implant, the better her chances of speech and language development, which are necessary at her age.
Mahna lives in a modest rented house with her parents and three young siblings who study. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, is an employee at a private company. His insufficient monthly income hardly covers house rent of PKR 15000, utility bills amounting to PKR 8000, and mounting educational expenses. The family’s financial hardships have left them heartbroken, and they fear that Manha would grow up without hearing the world around her. During this time of need, Manha’s family contacted us and asked us for assistance.
Her parents said in despair:
“Each day brings a new challenge for Mahna. She tries to play with other children, but she doesn’t understand their words, and they don’t understand her silence. We feel helpless, knowing our daughter would continue to live in silence as we can’t afford her surgery. We request you to please help us and give Manha a healthy future.”
The cochlear implant surgery will allow Manha to communicate, play with kids, and embrace a future filled with possibilities. We need your contributions to bring sounds into her silent world. Come forward and contribute for Manha’s cochlear implant surgery.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.

Manha Mati Ullah's Story
Manha Mati Ullah, a 3-year-old girl from Karachi, had been living in a world of silence since birth. While other children of her age were beginning to speak and engage with the world around them, Manha could not respond to voices or sounds. Determined to find answers, her parents took her to a nearby hospital. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The only way to help Manha hear and eventually learn to speak was through cochlear implant surgery. However, the cost of the cochlear implant surgery was far beyond the family’s financial capacity.
Manha lived in a small rented home in Karachi with her parents and three school-going siblings. Her father worked for a private company and was the only earner in the household. With his modest income, the family could barely meet daily living expenses. Affording the expensive cochlear implant surgery was out of their reach. Feeling helpless but not ready to give up on their daughter, Manha’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. After learning about their situation, we promptly registered Manha’s case.
On February 25, 2025, Manha was admitted to the National Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Asim successfully performed her cochlear implant surgery. The internal component was placed, and she was kept under observation. After receiving post-operative care, Manha was discharged in stable condition on February 26, 2025. Manha will return for activation of the external component of the cochlear implant and speech therapy sessions in the coming weeks.
Manha’s mother expressed her emotions with tearful eyes as follows: “We couldn’t imagine affording this treatment on our own. We are immensely grateful to you for helping us during this difficult time. You changed our daughter’s life.”
With your incredible support, Manha is now on the path to a brighter future. Her entire family sends their deepest thanks to you for changing their little girl's life forever.
