Sakina Amir's Story
Sakina Amir, a 3-year-old girl from Kotri, has been struggling with pain, redness, swelling, and discharge in her right eye since birth. Her worried parents took her to a doctor for a thorough examination. After evaluating her condition, the doctor diagnosed her with right-sided dacryocystitis, an infection of the tear sac that causes discharge, swelling, redness, and pain around the eye. To provide lasting relief and prevent further complications, the doctor has recommended suture-less Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR). Sadly, the cost of the procedure is far beyond what her family can afford. Without timely surgery, Sakina may continue to experience recurring infections, excessive tearing, and painful swelling around her eye. If left untreated, the infection can worsen over time, increasing the risk of serious complications and affecting her vision and well-being.
Sakina’s father works as a laborer and earns only PKR 35,000 per month, which is the family’s sole source of income. He is responsible for supporting a large household with seven children, four of whom are studying in a government school. The family lives in a modest one-room house and struggles to meet even their basic household expenses. After paying utility bills and managing daily necessities, there is nothing left to cover the cost of Sakina’s much-needed surgery.
Sakina’s father shared his heartfelt plea as follows:
“My daughter is only three years old, yet she has been living with pain and discomfort since birth. The constant swelling and tears in her eye are affecting every aspect of her life. I do everything I can to provide for my family, but my limited income barely covers our daily expenses. Kindly support my daughter so she can receive this much-needed surgery and have a healthy childhood.”
