Farooq Bashir's Story

Farooq Bashir, a 54-year-old man from Lahore, is suffering with pain and discomfort due to a lump in his right groin. It has gradually increased in size and has now become more painful. This condition makes it hard for him to carry out his routine activities, and even standing and sitting have become difficult for him. Concerned about his worsening condition, Farooq recently visited a doctor at a local hospital. After a detailed examination, the doctors diagnosed him with a right-sided inguinal hernia. This condition occurs when a part of the intestine pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles, causing pain and swelling. To treat this condition and prevent further complications, the doctor has advised inguinal hernioplasty. If Farooq does not undergo the hernioplasty, his condition may worsen over time. The hernia can increase in size, leading to severe pain and discomfort. In some cases, it may become strangulated, cutting off the blood supply and causing a surgical emergency. Delay in treatment can result in serious complications and long-term health risks.

Farooq lives in a modest house with his wife and three children. He works as a carpenter and earns around PKR 50,000 per month. This income is used to cover their utility bills of PKR 8,000, educational expenses of PKR 2,000, groceries, and other essential household expenses. Due to his financial constraints, he can’t afford the surgery.

Farooq expressed his plea as follows:

“I feel pain and discomfort, and it is becoming harder for me to continue my work. My life has become challenging due to this illness. I don’t have enough money to pay for my treatment. Therefore, I need your help. Kindly contribute to my surgery.”
