Hina Needs Your Support to Undergo Life-Changing Hernioplasty

Hina Jawaid's Story

Hina Jawaid, a 41-year-old woman from Hyderabad, has been experiencing swelling in her umbilical region for the past five years. Alongside this, she suffers from indigestion too. Over time, the lump has increased in size and caused immense discomfort. Worried about her health, she went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Hina with a para-umbilical hernia. This condition occurs when abdominal contents protrude through a defect in the linea alba near the umbilicus. To treat this condition, her doctor has advised Mesh Hernioplasty. However, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for her family.

If Hina does not undergo this procedure, the condition may lead to further complications, including:

• Risk of intestinal obstruction
• Strangulation of the hernia, which may damage the trapped tissue

Hina lives with her husband, two sons, and her mother-in-law in a modest home. Her husband remained unemployed for nearly one and a half years, which placed a significant strain on their household. Recently, he secured a private job where he earns a monthly salary of just PKR 35,000. He is the only earning member who supports the household. Both of their children attend school, and their combined monthly school fees amount to PKR 2,300. Moreover, the family hardly manages to pay their utility bills of around PKR 4,500 every month. After managing these expenses, they are left with nothing to set aside for Hina’s much-needed surgery.

Hina shared her heartfelt plea as follows:

“Living with this illness has become very difficult for me. The swelling has grown over time and become painful. Kindly support me in receiving the surgery. My husband works hard to support our family, but we cannot afford this surgery with his modest income. Please help me.”
